Ability to Hide or Reorder Graph Cards on the Dashboard

I would like to propose a feature enhancement for the EMR platform that would significantly improve the usability and customer satisfaction of the dashboard. Specifically, I suggest adding the ability to hide or reorder graph cards on the dashboard.

Problem

The current dashboard layout, while functional, does not allow for individual customization. Every user or customer sees the same set of graph cards in the same predefined order. This can lead to a cluttered user experience if certain cards are not relevant to specific workflows, or it may fail to prioritize important data based on the diverse needs of different customers.

Proposed Solution

Introduce options to:

  1. Hide graph cards: Users should be able to hide graph cards that are not relevant to their specific workflows.

  2. Reorder graph cards: Users should have the ability to rearrange the graph cards to prioritize information that is most important to them.

This functionality would allow each customer to create a personalized dashboard that suits their needs, ensuring the information displayed is always relevant and accessible.

Key Benefits

  • Enhanced User Experience: Users only see what is relevant, reducing visual clutter and ensuring a more pleasing interface.

  • Improved Workflow Efficiency: By showcasing key metrics at the top and removing irrelevant ones, users can optimize their workflows.

  • Truly Personalized Dashboards: Tailoring the dashboard to each customer’s unique requirements shows flexibility and enhances the perceived value of the platform.

  • Scalable Customization: As customer needs evolve, they can easily tweak their own dashboards to reflect those changes without requiring intervention from your team.

How It Could Work

  • Add a "Customize Dashboard" option, where users can:

    • Drag and drop cards to reorder them.

    • Use a toggle switch to hide or display specific cards.

    • Save their preference for personalized dashboards across sessions.

Addressing Potential Concerns

There are no foreseeable downsides to implementing this feature because of the flexibility and benefits it provides:

  1. Maintains Accessibility for All Users: Customers who prefer the default layout can keep it as is without making any changes.

  2. Universal Appeal: Personalization is always welcomed by users as it provides them with more control over their experience.

  3. Non-Intrusive Implementation: The feature can exist as an optional tool, allowing users to opt-in as they see fit.

Conclusion

By providing a way to hide or reorder graph cards, EMR can become a more customer-centric platform with a dashboard that adapts seamlessly to the needs of different users. This improvement aligns with modern UX best practices, where personalization and usability take center stage.

I strongly urge the team to consider implementing this feature, as it brings significant value with no drawbacks. Personalization options have become a standard expectation across software platforms, and offering this within EMR will demonstrate your commitment to continually improving the customer experience.

Thank you for your time and consideration.
