Enhancing Rich Snippets for Improved Local SEO

Hi everyone,

I’d like to discuss the significance of rich snippets in search engine results. When properly configured, rich snippets can display star ratings, average scores, and the number of reviews a business has received, making your listings more appealing to potential customers.

Upon reviewing EMR widgets, I identified a few areas for improvement:

  1. Business Name Display: Currently, the entity name appears as the domain name (e.g., "baloo.com") instead of the full business name ("Baloo | Landscaper in London"). Consistency in your business name across all platforms, especially on your website, is crucial for local SEO. If your Google Business Profile lists your business as "Baloo | Landscaper in London," ensure this exact name is used everywhere.

  2. Missing Contact Information: Essential business details such as address and phone number are absent. Including this information not only aids customers but also strengthens your local SEO efforts. When this information is missing, Google's validation tool actually warns the user, which is not a good sign.

  3. Incomplete Review Data: For optimal results, each review should be included in the rich snippets. In this validation test for a client, you'll notice that all customer reviews are listed..

Ensuring that rich snippets are complete and comply with Google's technical requirements can significantly increase the likelihood of star ratings appearing under our clients' website links in Google search results.

This would require indicating in EMR the business name as it should appear in the rich snippets, along with complete contact details.

Of course, it should also be possible to modify this information, which currently doesn't seem to be an option regarding the client name.
